Raiden (real name is Jack) is from Metal Gear Solid 2; Sons of Liberty.

He at first looks all cool, and is extremely stereotypical 'hot' boy.

And then he opens his beautiful mouth.

-__- I don't use the term 'pansy' much, but it suits him.

He has been trained using virtual reality, and has no idea about like 'how to open doors' or fire a real gun (in '' as he does ask the mission leader "How do I open doors?")

He is like the exact opposite of Solid Snake (the hero of the games). Snake is cool, decisive, and macho. Raiden is unsure, slightly-girly, and too flashy.

Oh and Raiden has a pregnant girlfriend.

However the new MGS4 game has Raiden as more mature, and skilled. Oh and a cyborg :P

Ahh.

I've heard Metal Gear Solid brought up before (by people other than you; I know I've seen it in a few of your posts), I think on the Thief forum. How much does stealth play a role in the game? It is something I'd like to play, though if I remember correctly, only one of the games is out in PC format?

Metal Gear Solid; Tatical Espionage

Yes stealth is VERY key (actually on Very Hard you can't let the gurads even suspect you are around).

You make noises if you walk on metal floors, if you step in a puddle; you leave wet footprints (even if you are outside and then come-in).

But it also adds the eleMetal Gear Solid; Tactical Espionage

But it also adds the element of Bosses. They typically have a special power, or attack weapon (The Pain = bees inside of himself that he can control, and also uses grenades).

Typically a mission starts out as Snake (ether Solid, or in the case of MGS3; Naked), who must sneak ('sneaking mission') into a area and ether get info from someone who is captive, get files, or save someone. Also you don't have individual missions (as per say; levels), but the whole game.

And Cam Clarke (one of my favourite English voice actors).

I know "MGS2: Sons of Liberty" is on PC, and I think maybe MGS1 but yeah MGS2 is quote good, though as a first-time player you don't know what is going on with the plot much (but you don't need to when you start the Raiden part of the game).

Sounds like ghosting mode in Thief; in Thief Expert mode, you can let guards see/hear you, but you can't kill anyone. (Although most Thief players would probably consider being seen/heard very sloppy, except for diversion tactics.)

The Pain = bees inside of himself that he can control, and also uses grenades

o_0 That's an interesting weapon; reminds me of Bioshock.

Thief spoiled me in regards to there not being any bosses in the games, which I rather like, but MGS sounds very cool.

Is there any version of MGS that you wouldn't recommend starting with, either because of need for backstory or because it's not quite as good as the others?
